Pop quiz: What does a milkshake straw have to do with your spine and core muscles?
And no, it has nothing to do with calories or my favorite dessert!

As strange as it may sound, the visual of a milkshake straw is fantastic for connecting with deep muscles in your body that stabilize your pelvis and spine.
These hidden muscles tend to be more challenging to sense and activate at first.
Why?
There are a couple of reasons.
- They’re located deeper in the body, so you can’t really “see” what they do like you can when, say, your bicep contracts to bend your elbow for a bicep curl.
- These muscles hold bones still instead of moving them, which is a different feeling from your abs working for a sit-up.
Many people don't know about these important muscle connections, so they're missing out on some great benefits.
