Tight Hips? This Simple Move Relieves Hip Tension Like Magic

The other day, during a Q&A Zoom class, an Alignment Studio member requested help for her hips.

(In case you aren’t familiar, Alignment Studio, formerly Pilates Tonic Online, is an online studio packed with alignment-based restorative exercises to help you get stronger and more flexible.)

This member's hips were uncomfortably tight, and she thought it had to do with the muscles on the front of her hips and thighs—the quads and hip flexors.

The quads and hip flexors help you sit down, stand up, and walk. When they get tight, not only is it uncomfortable, but it makes walking and moving with ease much harder.

During class, I incorporated a movement into an exercise called Windshield Wiper Knees, hoping to offer the relief she was after.

At the end of class, she unmuted herself to share that the tension was gone, and the exercise felt like magic.

In today’s video, you’ll learn the adjustment that made such a big difference in class that day.

P.S. Alignment Studio isn’t just another online program. It's a unique monthly membership packed with restorative exercises tailored to member requests.

You won’t find the material inside Alignment Studio in a regular Pilates class because it isn’t Pilates, but it sure does complement Pilates with exercises that target overlooked movement patterns that make all the difference.

It will also help you improve your alignment and ease aches and pains as you get stronger and more flexible.

Picture a life where your movements are effortless, pain is a thing of the past, and you have the energy and strength to do what you love every day.
