“You have the spine of a 95-year-old,” the chiropractor told Susan as they stared at her X-ray.
She was in her early forties and felt like she’d just been given a life sentence of pain.
Fast forward 15 years…
Susan is in her mid-fifties now, and that “95-year-old spine” diagnosis is a distant memory.
Back then, she felt stuck in her hips, shoulders, and spine all the time.
The back pain? So bad she planned to start weekly injections for relief.
But before taking that step, she gave Pilates Tonic a try, and it turned out to be a complete game-changer for her.
It’s been almost six years now, and she hasn’t had a twinge of back pain since.
Not only that, she feels strong, and her body feels great.
Even after breast cancer during the pandemic, facing personal hurdles, earning another master’s degree, and launching a new business – she's thriving.
Oh, and did I mention she has scoliosis?
From once living in near-constant pain, Susan's now absolutely pain-free.
I chatted with Susan recently, and she revealed…
- How she’s gone from feeling like a 95-year-old to running a 20-acre farm with 5 horses and 19 other animals.
- The moment she felt sentenced to a “life of pain” and how she lives a pain-free life now.
- How life’s demands led her to switch from in-person to online exercise — and why she’s never going back.
- The specific exercises Susan does throughout the day that help her improve her overall mobility, like easily bending over to reach things off the floor and lifting her hands over her head (which used to be super painful).
- Why her scoliosis doesn’t hold her back from any activity (even spending hours working on her farm)
- And how she easily integrates restorative exercises into her daily life — even though she’s super busy.
Just because you get older doesn’t mean you have to stop doing the activities you love and going for your dreams.
Susan is a beautiful example of getting stronger and more active with age, even with a dire diagnosis.
